Uh-oh, four Circular Road establishments get warning letters from LTA

Be careful where you park your ass on Circular Road, that seat could cost the business $100 a day.

Four dining establishments in the area that have been placing tables and chairs on the streets — thereby obstructing pedestrians and vehicles — could be fined up to $2000, and a further fine of up to $100 a day, under the Street Works Act, reports Channel NewsAsia.

The report says four businesses have already received warning letters from the Land Transport Authority, and their owners are not happy since, as one of them points out, 70 per cent of profit comes from the al fresco area.

Weekends are another story, of course. That’s when Circular Road — along with Haji Lane and Ann Siang Hill — are designated car-free zones by the Urban Redevelopment Authority and anyone can sit anywhere they like, even on the curb, and it won’t cost an extra penny.
