So UberPool recently celebrated its first anniversary here with a video showing three pairs of strangers from different walks of life hitching a ride together. Granted, it’s kinda cheesy, but the initial awkwardness between the riders is something we’re all too familiar with.

Anyway, after the strangers move past the silent treatment in the beginning, they transit into small talk territory and start bonding with one another over topics like local food, relationships and languages.

Of course, there were detractors who maintained that the standard UberPool ride is usually fraught with uncomfortable moments and zero eye contact.

Netizens also chipped in with accounts of their own experiences, both good and bad.

And there was this optimist, who totally got on board with what the vid was trying to say.

But best of all, this commenter obviously knew what he/she wanted and how to get it. Bottomline: It isn’t a proper Singaporean celebration without a good old promo.
