Uber passenger’s five-minute ride to Sentosa horribly turns into an hour-long city tour

What was meant to be a straightforward five-minute ride across the bridge from Harbourfront to Sentosa became an unintentional leisure ride around Tanjong Pagar.

Okay, maybe less leisure and more like extreme annoyance. Ngee Ann Polytechnic student, cosplayer and Overwatch enthusiast Regin Ho was nearly two hours late for work because of an Uber driver who didn’t seem to know his directions very well. Like dude, it’s literally just making a turn at the road with a huge sign that says ‘Sentosa’.

Having missed the staff bus on Tuesday morning, the intern opted to hire an UberX to get her across to Sentosa — it would only cost about $5.46, after all.

Welp, that shit wasn’t gonna fly with the Uber driver, who took it upon himself to treat Ho to the sights around the city, whether she liked it or not. One cannot imagine the boiling fury she had while being stuck in a car for an hour, travelling on far-flung expressways. In the end, the ride cost her $14.50, as well as one-and-a-half hours of her time.

Yeesh. Well at least Uber Singapore was quick to respond, and presumably they’ve already compensated her appropriately.
