In August last year, we had a little fun examining all the wacky individuals who were seriously vying to be independent candidates in the elections, including the likes of Parrot Man, Jingle Gentleman and an Uber driver.
The political fire of that Uber driver — 32-year-old Shirwin Eu — was once again lit when the Bukit Batok by-election was announced. Previously having failed to run in the race for Bukit Panjang SMC as an independent candidate last year, he tried again earlier today. Alas, the man doth not hath what it takes yet again — he arrived without the proper documents, $13,500 deposit or even assentors, according to an interview he did with Mothership.sg. Do call him though when serious candidates can just get by on unrealistic optimism, handout-begging and barmy responses. Seriously, check out Channel NewsAsia’s interview with him.
Being an Uber driver, it is kinda ironic that he doesn’t like seeing Bukit Batok residents being taken for a ride. *badum tsh*
