Two victims of Jakarta bombings flown in to Singapore for treatment

A total of 26 people were injured in the bombings in Jakarta last week, and two of them are currently receiving treatment in Singapore.

TODAY reports that 44-year-old Algerian Marek and 52-year-old Dutch citizen Yohanes Antonius Maria were certified by hospitals to be stable enough to fly. The Dutchman has since been transferred to a Singapore hospital on Saturday from Gatot Subroto army hospital in Jakarta, while Marek arrived here yesterday afternoon.

According to the head of police health and medical department Colonel Musyafak, they were found to be in stable condition. Their wounds were sustained from bomb shrapnels when they were inside the Starbucks cafe which was one of the first sites hit by explosions.

Meanwhile, Indonesian authorities have started to identify the Islamic State-connected militants behind the attacks that unfolded near Sarinah Mall in central Jakarta on Jan 14. The death toll recently rose to eight after a wounded Indonesian bystander died overnight.
