After an outpouring of heavy rain on Sunday (Apr 3) afternoon, a large tree was uprooted in front of Block 296, Choa Chu Kang Ave 2. Unfortunately, two people ended up stuck in their car, which was on the furthest lane when it got hit by the falling tree. The vehicle was almost completely covered by branches.
This incident happened around 4.20pm, and Singapore Civil Defence Force completed its rescue mission in about 15 minutes, using chainsaws and power saws to remove some of the tree’s branches. It is believed a man and a woman were occupants of the car, and no injuries were sustained. The car was towed and the tree removed from the road by 5.30pm, reported The Straits Times.
