A multi-vehicle expressway pileup this morning sent 10 people to the hospital.
A large truck veered out of its lane, possibly to avoid hitting another truck, and struck several vehicles including three lorries and two cars on the Pan Island Expressway, or PIE, in video filmed from the road. Ten people required hospital care, though their conditions were not known at publication time. Three others suffered minor injuries.
In the short clip, a large blue truck suddenly swerves across two lanes and crashes into two cars in the right lane. He appeared to have clipped an open lorry with at least four people riding in the back. A grey car appeared badly crushed between another lorry and vehicle. Debris was strewn all over the road as vehicles attempted to maneuver past the scene.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force, or SCDF, said it was alerted at around 8am to the accident in a Changi-bound lane before the Jalan Eunos exit.
Those requiring medical attention were taken to the nearby Changi General Hospital.
