Triple-murderer to be hanged after court dismisses appeal

Singapore’s capital punishment comes out in full force for the horrifyingly tragic triple-murder that took place at Yishun in 2008.

Channel NewsAsia reports that 48-year-old Chinese national Wang Zhijian had his appeal dismissed by the court last Friday, affirming the death penalty that will be meted out for his part in the murder of three women six years ago. Wang was found guilty of culpable homicide for the death of his 41-year-old lover Zhang Meng and her 17-year-old daughter Feng Jianyu in 2012, and guilty of the murder of Zhang’s flatmate Yang Jie.

According to court documents, the murder spree took place after an argument where Wang stabbed Zhang 48 times in her sleep before turning his attention on her daughter, who was stabbed 45 times.

Wang went into another bedroom to kill the flatmate Yang and her daughter Li Meilin, who survived a slash attack. Her mother however was not as lucky. She fell to her death after Wang chopped off her fingers while she was holding on for dear life to the laundry pole holders outside the window.
