Frequent fliers to Australia will soon be able to rest easy with less paperwork involved in traveling, thanks to a new visa allowing Singaporeans to enter Australia for up to three months at a time over a period of six years. Basically, that means you won’t have to keep applying for a new permit every few months for your visits Down Under.
This change will take effect by Jan 1, 2018.
Only for Singaporeans, the visa was announced on the first day of Aussie Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s three-day visit here. The announcement also included a new visa that would allow Singaporeans under 30 (and above 18) to work and holiday in Australia for up to a year. This Work and Holiday Visa Programme starts on Aug 1, with 500 spots available for citizens of each country.
Last year, an estimated 400,000 Singaporeans visited Australia, and one million Australians visited Singapore.
