Tow-truck driver killed while attending to accident at AYE

A Friday job for a tow-truck operator turned out to be his last when a car ran into him while he was carrying out his duty.

According to The New Paper, the tow-truck driver was attending to an incident along Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) near Jurong Town Hall Road last Friday where an accident between two cars had occurred. He was speaking with another man at the side of the road when a car crashed into him, instantly killing him at the scene. The other man, who was already injured in the earlier accident, was taken to National University Hospital sporting head injuries.

Two men were arrested in relation to the two accidents — one was detained for drink driving while the other was apprehended for causing death by a negligent act.

Lianhe Wanbao also reported that a massive traffic jam ensued from the police closing two of the three lanes of the AYE.
