Tigerair flight makes emergency landing after chronically ill Singaporean man dies mid-air

A Singapore-bound Tiger Air flight was forced to make a premature landing at Suvarnabhumi airport yesterday after one of its passengers died mid-air.

The 58-year-old Singaporean man was flying back home from Chiang Mai with his family of five together with his Thai wife, Thai PBS reports.

According to his wife, the man was suffering from chronic illness, and he succumbed to the sickness on the plane. The pilot of Flight PR 2177 then made an emergency landing in Bangkok for medical assistance.

His body was later taken for autopsy at the Police General Hospital — investigations are still ongoing.
