Jubilee Bridge was a brainchild of Lee Kuan Yew

You know how new buildings just seem to appear out of nowhere in Singapore? We have now uncovered the mystery behind them.

In the case of the newly constructed 220-metre Jubilee Bridge, which runs parallel to the Esplanade Bridge and connects Merlion Park to Esplanade’s waterfront promenade, Channel NewsAsia reports that “construction was carried out in the late hours of the night and into the early hours of the morning to minimise inconvenience to nearby businesses and the water taxi operators.”

Those sneaky foreign workers, working tirelessly into the night!

The bridge was a brainchild of Lee Kuan Yew — check his red box if you don’t believe us — and was “opened ahead of schedule on Mar 29 – the day of the State Funeral procession for Mr Lee – to accommodate onlookers.”

It can hold up to 2,000 people and will be officially launched in November, according to the report.
