DPM Teo: It’s getting hot in here

We just love how hot and humid Singapore is, said no one ever.

And it seems things are really getting from bad to worse, even with all this rain.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean revealed during his speech at the National Climate Change Competition (NCCC) awards ceremony on Nov. 12 that the average temperature in Singapore has risen 0.26 degrees per decade since 1951.

Recognising the importance of fighting against climate change, he also said there are plans by the National Climate Change Secretariat (NCCS), Science Centre Singapore (SCS) and Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) to revamp the Climate Change Exhibition at the Science Centre Singapore in 2014.

The five-year-old exhibition will be put in a more local context with information and examples of how Singapore is affected by climate change.

According to DPM Teo, Singaporeans now have more opportunities to pursue an education and careers in the fields of climate science and cleantech as the city continues to position itself as a green hub.

“You can be at the fore-front of climate change action, and play a part to develop solutions that benefit Singapore, and the rest of the world,” he added.
