Taiwanese talk show ‘News Tornado’ under fire for false reporting on Singapore

In the second incident of TV flaming this month, Taiwanese talk show News Tornado is under fire for false reporting on Singapore, following the Little India riot that happened on Dec. 8.

In one of their episodes (watch it below), the two hosts can be seen offering inaccurate descriptions of the city-state, including how chewing bubble gum here is punishable by caning and how the 1964 racial riots in Singapore and the lawlessness surrounding the country were what led to its separation from Malaysia.

The hosts also claim that people caught talking loudly in an MRT train will be fined and that Singapore government officers are allowed to change public housing locks as they wish.

According to The Straits Times, the Singapore Trade Office has already confronted the Taipei-based current affairs about its false claims.

Earlier this month, India’s Sun TV was accused of reporting falsehoods in relation to the Little India riot. The network has since apologised.
