Our Little Red Dot has topped another survey — this time, it’s the list of cities in Asia offering the highest quality of life, according to consulting firm Mercer’s 2017 Quality of Living study. Out of 231 cities, Austrian capital Vienna nabbed top spot as the world’s best place for expats to live in for the eighth time, and Zurich, Auckland, Munich and Vancouver rounded up the top five places. Singapore took the 25th spot for global rankings.
When it came to city infrastructure, Singapore was first in the world, followed by German cities Frankfurt and Munich. Some of the criteria considered in the survey were political stability, health care, education, crime, recreation and transport. Other factors included easy access to transport, reliable electricity and drinkable water.
Popular cities like London, Paris, Tokyo and New York City didn’t make it to the top 30 — they came in behind most big cities in Germany, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The United States had its highest entry at the 29th spot, thanks to San Francisco, and Baghdad came in last.
