Sure or Not: NSCS’ campaign video thinks S’poreans work even when ill

It seems the authorities have finally caught on — digital and social media can impact nation-building, or in this case, prevent a nation’s breakdown.

Quickly responding to the influx of cyber crime and dengue cases, the National Security Coordination Secretariat (NSCS) has kicked off an awareness campaign — “Let’s Stand Together” — comprising easy access to general knowledge articles, as well as a four-part video series.

The videos are themed “The Viral Effect” and aim to engage the community in questioning some of the decisions we make as Singaporeans.

This first video (watch below) is questionable, but not in the way intended — it talks about how Singaporeans rather go to work ill than see a doctor and risk not being able to support their family.

And yet, a Skyscanner survey says Singaporean workers lie a lot to get off work, with some feigning illness.
