Supermarket’s teenaged employee stole $300, gave cigarettes to friends for free

Let’s just hope this teenager really learns the truth at seventeen.

A young woman employed by Fortune Supermarket on Sembawang Drive will be charged on court today for stealing $300 in cash, 72 lucky draw vouchers, four packets of cigarettes and two bags. She was arrested last Friday.

The employee lost no time in helping herself to her employeer’s inventory. According to The Straits Times, the owner “also found shortfalls in the earnings a few days after she joined.”

She covered the night shift and would give cigarettes to friends for free, as seen on CCTV footage.

If found guilty of criminal breach of trust as a servant, she could be fined and jailed for up to 15 years.
