Sunshine Plaza ‘Anonymous’ vandal ringleader sentenced to two years’ imprisonment and caning

The ringleader of the ‘Anonymous’ vandals has been sentenced to two years in jail and three strokes of the cane yesterday.

Four men were accused of spray-painting slogans supporting the Anonymous hacktivist group (“We are one. We are legion. Expect us”) at Sunshine Plaza along Prinsep Link in 2013, and the head of the offenders, 26-year-old Danial Ryan Salleh, pleaded guilty to the charges of vandalism along with having sex with a minor, grievously hurting a taxi driver and two counts of theft, Channel NewsAsia reports. Ten other charges were also taken into consideration.

In court, Danial told his accomplices that he received a call from someone claiming to an assistant to the leader of Anonymous, and directed him to spray-paint words in support of the group.

Two of Danial’s accomplices were sentenced to two months in jail and three strokes of the cane last year for vandalism.
