It was a smoke-filled Sunday morning in the suburbs along Bishan Street 22 yesterday when a fire broke out at a coffeeshop.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force were alerted to the incident at 11.33am and deployed a fire engine, a light fire attack vehicle and a support vehicle to the scene. It was discovered that the fire started from a stall’s kitchen stove and spread to the ventilation ducts.
The fire was quickly extinguished within five minutes with no casualties reported.
A resident who lived nearby informed The New Paper that gusty winds swept thick fumes of smoke across two high-rise blocks surrounding the coffeeshop, and the smell was strong enough to wake him up from his Sunday morning snooze.
