The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has responded to DoodleRoom’s complaint that they did not obtain the local agency’s permission to reuse their cover design for the Singapore Art Week Guide.
In a statement released on Wednesday (Jan. 15), STB revealed that they had indeed previously contracted with DoodleRoom for the supply of the design, but according to contract terms, the statutory board has the full rights to use, reproduce and modify it, and are not obliged to obtain the agency’s permission for further usage or adaptation.
DoodleRoom has since taken down the Facebook post criticising STB and wrote on Jan. 14, “Thank you everyone for your support. We’re really touched and surprised at the responses we’ve gotten. As all of you know, we only wanted to express our disappointment for not getting the acknowledgement due. We know we have ruffled some feathers, however there are many in the same boat whom have cheered us on. Ultimately, we just want to aspire for an environment that is more conducive for fair play.”
