StarHub and Huawei manage to hit indoor 4G speeds thrice as fast as current connections

In the quest for supremacy in the telecommunications market, StarHub has gone beyond the call of duty and achieved the world’s fastest 4G speeds indoors — a blazing 1Gbps.

Together with Chinese information and communications technology firm Huawei, they’ve managed to hit speeds that triple whatever’s available in Singapore today.

Too bad the current tech on any phone in the market right now isn’t capable of connecting at 1Gbps. StarHub, however, mentioned that they plan to deploy the service to consumers as soon as compatible phones are available in Singapore — which could be next year, TODAY reports.

The telco showcased the tech at a conference yesterday using a single small cell base station, which are easier to deploy and can be used at busy areas.

StarHub’s not the first one to hit 4G speeds of 1GBps though — Australian telco Telstra also managed to achieve the same feat during a trial last year.
