Stage one DTL launches, suffers temporary disruption on first day

Downtown Line 1 (DTL1) saw its first disruption between Bugis and Chinatown stations on its opening day on Dec. 22 as a result of a train fault.

The disruption occurred at noon, but was swiftly resolved in 15 minutes and services were restored not long after.

This happened a day after Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced that more resources will be invested into the maintenance and service of train infrastructure during the official opening ceremony of the first stage of DTL.

DTL1 will be free for all commuters till Jan. 1, 2014.
