The old boys of St Andrew’s have successfully protected all harm from coming to their long-held heritage; an upcoming development project in Potong Pasir will no longer sport a St Andrew-esque moniker.
Originally, the condominium and mall — set to be built near the official St Andrew’s compound — were named The Andrew Residences and The Andrew Village respectively.
St Andrew’s alumni however were less than happy that a commercial project is taking on the heritage of St Andrew’s complex of schools and churches, which could cause confusion among members of the public. They crafted (probably strongly worded) letters to the authorities and developers MCC Land as well to express their concern.
MCC Land has since switched the name of their project to the hoity-toity titles of The Poiz Residences and The Poiz Centre, Channel NewsAsia reports. It’s supposed to sound similar to ‘poise’ or something like that.
The condominium and mall will be integrated with Potong Pasir MRT station and is expected to be completed in 2019.
