A spiffy website has been set up to compile all the f*cked up happenings in Yishun

Move over Reddit’s /r/yishun and @YishunMan, there’s now a whole new online platform dedicated to Singapore’s northern rung of the netherworld. Bookmark The Yishun Dream in your daily feeds, ’cause it’s a whole new site specially assigned to publish all the fucked up news emerging from Siao Lang town

Though the loony happenings in the northern district have long been known by residents, it was only in the past year that the rest of the island began realising that, oh yeah, Yishun has been popping up way too much in headlines — usually under the crime sections. Set up by blogger and self-proclaimed art director Lhu Wen Kai, the spiffy site compiles all the awful happenings that seem to plague the district — with geotagged markers to boot.

Here, we’ll let Lhu describe Yishun in his own words.

“Masquerading as a sleepy heartland shopping district, the town formally known as Nee Soon is home to one of Singapore’s most dystopian societies. With a population of  205,000, the residential area appears to be well-equipped, with plenty of schools, accommodation, parks, transport, sports, entertainment and medical facilities to boot. Yet, darkness lurks at every corner of this cursed city, with loonies, murderers, perverts, animal killers, criminal enterprises, and the supernatural all too eager to fight for the headlines.”

If you ever needed any more convincing that Yishun is indeed a loony neck of the woods, The Yishun Dream is here to help persuade you. By all means, the site isn’t a warning for people to avoid entering Yishun (Editor’s note: I grew up there till my teens; made it out okay. Or did I?), but it serves to point out that an extraordinary amount of shitty things do transpire there.
