The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced that the speed limit of both the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) and the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) will be set at 80km/h on Dec. 29.
Even though the speed limit of the KPE tunnel is revised, the previous speed limit of 70km/h will still apply near the Upper Paya Lebar Road (north bound) exit and the Airport Road (south bound) entrance where the tighter geometry is seen to affect both carriageways on one bend.
Motorists will be reminded to observe the lower speed limit on the bend.
Additionally, measures such as reflective strips on tunnel walls, bend alignment lane markings (broader lane marking) as well as vibraline markings will be implemented to guide motorists safely along critical bends.
