You’ve all probably seen it by now — that video that captured a quarrel between an annoying uncle and a hapless lady at a POSB ATM. Man gets impatient at lady who was presumably hogging the ATM; man turns hostile and starts verbally abusing her; other folks in the queue meekly look on.
Any other day and it would have been just another altercation, but this impatient uncle (dressed in a most uncle fashion) was scolding the lady — with a generous dose of vulgarities — in perfect English. ‘Tis surreal.
But have you really listened to it though? No matter, test your apprehension of the English language through this Listening Comprehension test. A throwback to our days in primary and secondary school — students have to answer questions based on a read-aloud passage — where we definitely would have excelled if they used real-world viral examples.
The Listening Comprehension TYS YouTube page is still young, and we fully expect it to feature more incidents like the angry dude who blew up at a StarHub staff member. Or perhaps there could be a test for the Indonesian language featuring the domestic worker who got rescued from a suicide attempt.
