Cities: Skyline is known to be the superior city-building simulation to SimCity because video game publishers Electronic Arts seem to ruin everything they touch. Since it launched to critical acclaim in 2015, there’s been a healthy community keeping the game alive thanks to the constant crop of user-generated content via modding.
One gamer recently published a video that captures his impressive work: crafting an in-game reproduction of Boon Lay MRT Station. No word if he coded an algorithm that causes the simulated trains to also break down during peak hours.
Granted, it’s not exactly an accurate imitation of the area surrounding the MRT station but the attention to detail remains admirable.
The interiors — complete with the platforms, gantries and glass elevators — were produced with loving detail to attention, including the ad signages and the shops at the MRT station.
What if we told you that you too could make your own Singapore-style utopia in Cities: Skyline? Local creators have uploaded all the assets of local buildings and landmarks that can be used in the game, and they’re all available as free downloads on Steam Workshop. All the things you need to reproduce Singaporean landscapes (or improve upon its planning) are there, including HDB blocks, Changi Airport, various CBD skyscrapers, and yes, ERP toll gantries.
