While many on social media are bidding goodbye to all that is good in the world because Donald Trump is now the US president, there are some young ‘uns here who are celebrating his triumph.
Local feminist activism group The Local Rebel caught wind of a screengrabbed WhatsApp chat in which some Hwa Chong Institution students expressed their elation that the bullying demagogue (among other things) won the election today.
The screengrab was first tweeted out by user @sublimeseafood, who has since taken down her account. If our internet stalking skills are correct however, she’s a fellow Hwa Chong Institution student as well. Presumably, she’s being sarcastic in her tweet:
Oh, and take a look at just how happy these students are that Trump won. Warning: It might stink to high heaven of ignorance.
The Local People however got hold of the screengrabs and published them, stating how its an example of Chinese Privilege in Singapore. Then they unleashed a tirade of tweets against the students’ notions.
Others joined in the flurry of attacks.
