Poor SMRT, they just can’t catch a break from the eternal pool of irate commuters venting their grievances online.
Ever since launching their multi-year, multi-programme rail renewal works on the North-South Line and the East-West Line, they’ve had difficulties explaining to commuters how exactly they’ll benefit from it all. Terminologies such as ‘sleeper replacements’, ‘signalling systems’, ‘third rails’ and other engineering concepts fly way above everyday people’s heads — so it’s pretty cool that they prepared a cutesy animated explainer.
Narrated by Hossan Leong himself, it’s an easily digestible primer on SMRT’s complex engineering project, and how it’ll be highly beneficial for everyone in the long run.
Unfortunately, some folks just don’t care. They’re crabby over the increasing incidents of train breakdowns and the timing of SMRT’s explainer coinciding with the recent troubles with their Circle Line.
