“We apologize for the delay”, the announcement replayed countless times as disgruntled commuters remained stranded on train platforms.
Commuters were yet again affected by MRT train delays in the morning rush hour — the latest in a recent spate of train service breakdowns on the North-South Line (NSL). This time, a train fault caused an additional half-an-hour delay between Woodlands and Jurong East MRT stations. As some of us at Coconuts Singapore were caught in the delay, we can confirm that southbound trains towards the CBD were also affected by the delay.
[NSL]: Due to a train fault, pls add 30mins additional travel time between #Woodlands & #JurongEast. Train service is available.

A sea of commuters can be seen stranded on the platform as the delays created long queues.
Beware of train breakdown on the NSL, towards town. “satisfactory” indeed #mrtsingapore @SMRT_Singapore pic.twitter.com/rEATlIz6ri

Free regular bus services were activated between Choa Chu Kang station and Jurong East station. Train services resumed to normalcy as of 9:13AM.
[NSL] CLEARED: Train services between #Woodlands & #JurongEast have resumed. We have stopped the free regular bus services.

We don’t really know what it is, but after announcing in a press release that commuters could expect some delays due to the testing of the new signalling system, train services just went south from there. So here’s a reference for you to keep in the event of a train fault:
each time SMRT delay or breakdown, please refer to this, you’re welcome. pic.twitter.com/xUSiJ5EkxU

Of, course, we couldn’t not post the wave of angry tweets by passengers.
Our ministers need to work on fixing the fucking SMRT’s NSL daily breakdown instead of having unnecesary debate over 38 Oxley Road.
