SMRT Ltd (Feedback)’s own Teh Tarik Party enters the upcoming General Election game

Regular trolls they may be, but you have to admit that SMRT Ltd (Feedback) seem pretty damn serious in their announcement to contest in the upcoming general election.

The name of their faction? Why, the Teh Tarik Party of course.

Last week, the local satire Facebook page (and blossoming social media influencer) announced their intentions to throw their jester hats into the political race in their usual sardonic spirit but not many took them seriously. Though in a landscape where Parrot Man, Jingle Gent, an Uber driver and Han Hui Hui can actually be serious in being independent candidates, having SMRT Ltd (Feedback) taking part in the 2015 General Elections is not that far-fetched.

Then came the formation of the Teh Tarik Party Facebook page, along with a very nifty website and their manifesto. Unlike some of the other candidates, this party actually lists down legit issues along with practical, easy-to-digest plans and policies to resolve them. Oh, and they even modify and update their proposals based on viable feedback from the public — while some of the established political parties here can be too rigid in their policymaking. Impressive stuff for a team of anonymous jokesters and internet vigilantes.

Can’t know for sure if they’re being totally 100 percent invested in contesting, but it looks like the Radin Mas Single Member Constituency is firmly in their iron sights. If they really are, the Teh Tarik party will be going up against the incumbent People’s Action Party’s Sam Tan, Reform Party’s Kumar Appavoo… and social activist/blogger Han Hui Hui.

It’s also unclear why the Teh Tarik Party’s various logos and designs contain Freemason/Illuminati imagery. But whatever their ploy, any party that offers to have a drink or two with us will definitely have our vote.
