As Singaporeans, one of our proudest defining traits is the bond we have across different races, where we don’t judge people stereotypically by their skin colour and come together as one during events like Racial Harmony Day and National Day. In theory, anyway.
But as Reddit shows, a fellow Singaporean strongly believes that racism is becoming a prominent trend among Singaporeans (or residents in Singapore) in recent times. So strongly, in fact, that this happened — presumably on a HDB or condominium suggestion board written by residents:

So that you don’t have to strain your eyes to decipher the handwriting (sorry, whoever this is), here’s what was written:
“Dear Ms Pereira,
Organise a race/racial appreciation day as there are more & more Singaporeans who think just becuz they are Chinese, they are entitled/better/more superior. Just becuz I’m brown with a child at the playground doesn’t mean I am a MAID! Pls wake up!!!”
Followed by an arrow extending to the ‘PS’ part of the message:
“Don’t pretend 2 hide away from the truth – even young kids are racist these days!*
Redditors, in particular, are having a field day deconstructing the request, which was the highlight of the post. Especially the written reply in blue, where the writer – signed off as Tony – defended the accusation by stating “Not all Chinese are racist. Most of the Chinese are good”.
By the way, the original post titled “Most Chinese are good tonies” got us scratching our heads for a while trying to figure out what a “good tony” means.
Putting aside the accusatory request – with a dash of aggressiveness for taste – we couldn’t help but notice multiple sticky notes from fellow residents requesting for a swimming pool.

Hope you get your swimming pool soon.
