As 2015 winds down to a (hazy) end, unemployment rates among Singaporeans entered its highest levels among the past few years.
According to the Ministry of Manpower’s (MOM) latest quarterly employment situation report, the unemployment rate last month rose slightly to 3.1 percent from June’s 2.9 percent.
Though 51,100 Singaporeans were jobless last month, overall employment actually grew in the third quarter, higher than it was a year ago. MOM attributes the increase to the growth in the services and construction sectors.
TODAY reports that the climbing unemployment rate in Singapore looks set to continue till next year, according to economists.
