A road toward the city along Commonwealth Avenue West sunk on the morning of Dec. 23.
According to Channel NewsAsia, the sinkhole appears to be two metres in diameter and occurred when a Singapore Power (SP) contractor was laying electric cables.
Though it doesn’t look to be as threatening as the one recorded in Guatemala City in 2010, or even as those encountered in Florida this year, the area was immediately cordoned off with two lanes of the road closed for repair work.
No casualties have been reported and investigations are ongoing.
