Singtel, StarHub and M1 customers hit by internet outage after damage to fibre infrastructure

Dozens of StarHub fibre broadband customers (including us) shook their fists and yelled into the void as their internet service went kaput since morning.

The dreaded red light blinked menacingly on the StarHub modems, and many have taken to their telco’s Facebook page and Twitter account to demand an explanation for the prolonged outage of online services. 

The issue may be more serious than simply restarting our routers. It seems that fibre infrastructure has been damaged due to contractors carrying out foundation work. Even Singtel and M1 customers are being affected by the outage, mostly around the Bukit Merah area.
