SingTel and Starhub subscribers will both get World Cup

SingTel and Starhub subscribers will both get to to see the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil after the deal was closed by SingTel.

Just like the Barclays Premier League, SingTel, which won exclusive broadcast rights, will have to cross-carry the content to the Starhub platform.

Those who wish to catch the World Cup but aren’t SingTel mioTV or Starhub TV subscribers will have to pay $112.35 with GST.

Subscribers of mioTV will get access to all matches free only if they extend their mioStadium+ or Gold Pack for 24 months, or else they will be charged $105, including GST.

For the first time, the World Cup will also be made available live and on-demand — featuring multi-camera views — on tablets and smartphones through the mioTV GO app.

Football fans who don’t wish to pay a premium to catch the world’s biggest sporting event will get to watch four key matches (opening, both semi-finals and final) on Channel 5, but will — as usual — have to hit their favourite kopitiam or pub with complimentary screening for the rest of the games.
