London’s the world hottest city right now — where does Singapore rank?

Singapore isn’t in the news for its ridiculous heat, but for its ranking in the recent PriceWaterHouseCoopers’s (PwC) ‘Cities of Opportunity’ report. Coming in at third, Singapore and Hong Kong — ranked eighth — are the only two Asian countries in the top 10.

According to the report, Singapore owes its robust ranking to its transportation and infrastructure sector. Moving up four spots from last year, Singapore ranks just below New York (second) and London (first). The remaining top 10 cities include Toronto (fourth), San Francisco at (fifth), Paris (sixth), Stockholm (seventh), Hong Kong (eighth), Sydney (ninth) and Chicago (10th).

This is PwC’s sixth edition of a report that measures the level of opportunity a city bestows its people. It uses the following indicators to reflect the fundamentals of a well-balanced society; intellectual capital and innovation; technology readiness; how accessible the city is to the rest of the world; transport and infrastructure; health, safety and security; sustainability and the natural environment, demographics and livability; economic clout; ease of doing business; and costs.
