Singapore’s teenage indoor skydiving freestyle champion has won another 2 gold medals

More gold medals in the bag for Singapore! Teenage talent Kyra Poh demonstrated that her success at Poland’s 2016 Federation Aeronautique Internationale World Cup of Indoor Skydiving was the real deal by snagging two more medals – of the gold variety, obviously – last weekend at the 2017 Wind Games in Cataluna, Spain.

Her indoor skydiving performance got off to a flying start (literally), with various acts of flips and twirls that would probably make any professional gymnast look on with glee. The 14-year-old dominated the solo freestyle category – where contestants have to pull off a silent routine (read: without music) and a free routine decided by the competitor with music – whilst saddled with a difficulty rating of 8.8, the highest among her fellow contenders.

Poh scored a total of 361.217 points to come up top, followed by Czech Republic’s Jakub Harrer (349.033) and Poland’s Maja Kuczynska (340.751).

In addition to snagging the gold, Poh was also honoured with the title of “World’s Fastest Flyer”, thanks to her success in the solo speed category. She completed a mandatory and randomly drawn routine in the quickest time, and managed to top six out of the eight rounds among 10 other competitors to nail a record flight speed of 237.62 seconds. She was followed by Spain’s Cesar Rico with 243.547 seconds and UK’s Jamie Arnold with 257.154 seconds.

The talented indoor skydiver champion will take home the prize money of $2,300 for each of her gold medals, and hopefully it won’t be taxed (like the Olympic medalists).
