Singapore’s first hacker hostel now open

Good news for struggling entrepreneurs (and basically any National University of Singapore [NUS] student who got rejected at the N-House)—The Enclave Hostel is now open in Clementi.

The living quarters set up specially for the ultimate entrepreneur stereotype—couch surfing, Maggi eating, remote working folk—is as anticipated, quite simple. There are two rooms with 12 bunk beds, four shared bathrooms, a fully functional kitchenette, laundry facilities and an outdoor patio with a gas barbecue. Fibre optic WiFi is also provided.

Founded by the guys from Plug and Play Tech Center and SmartSpace, The Enclave Hostel is in a very convenient part of Singapore that has easy access to all corners of the city, plus amenities like heartland shopping malls, minimarts and hawker centres.

Prices start from $200 a week (minimum duration of stay) for a bed, more private options available.

All in all, a pretty good deal if you need basic living facilities for when you’re not coding or meeting potential investors in Singapore. While The Enclave is still new, its aim is to house entrepreneurial spirits (from other parts of the world, too—The Enclave is now on AirBnb) that can help each other in the right direction down the startup garden path. When that goal comes into fruition and with the famed Blk 71 and NUS just a stone’s throw away, Singapore’s first real hacker hostel may just churn out the next Facebook.

The Enclave Hotel is located at 24A Clementi Rd. Email enquire@the-enclave.sg for more info.
