It looks like Zika clusters in Singapore are slowly closing down. The first and biggest one at Aljunied Crescent/Sims Drive officially closed on October 9 after no new cases were reported there for two weeks, according to the National Environment Agency. But the NEA will continue to keep tabs on the area until October 31, three weeks after the closure date.
The cluster was first notified on August 27 — a total of 298 Zika cases were reported, and 128 mosquito breeding habitats in homes and common areas have been destroyed since then.
Unfortunately, two more active Zika clusters remain, both of which were notified this month. One’s at Ubi Avenue 1, the other’s at Jalan Chengkak/Jalan Raya.
The fight isn’t over yet.
