Singapore’s environment ministry has ramped up its adverts to promote more sustainable living practices in the city-state by editing plenty of cat memes into their reels.

A new set of short clips, posted by the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) since the start of this month, all involve cats heavily edited into adverts promoting recycling, reusing bags and returning empty plates at food centers.

While the graphics are atrocious, the reels certainly are eye-catching with numerous recognizable cat memes cropped and edited onto photos of existing places in Singapore. They are also backed up with incredibly annoying soundtracks including the TikTok viral My Happy Song.

In one particular video, a cat urges students to recycle or donate school materials instead of trashing them. Even American singer Doja Cat makes the cut in her cat prosthetic outfit from the recent Met Gala.

Another shows a “Happy Cat” having a plate of chicken rice at Maxwell Food Centre who reminds diners to return their trays and clean up after themselves. Several different cats are seen waving their arms and floating across the screen.

Here’s one featuring Big Floppa, a caracal from Russia that’s been memeified, going grocery shopping with a reusable bag.

MSE has been actively promoting environmentally-friendly behavior to its followers on social media with a variety of PSAs, including plenty featuring trending memes and references.
