Free money, you say? You won’t hear us complaining. All Singaporeans aged 21 years and above this year will receive up to $300 wired to their bank accounts by December as part of the one-off SG Bonus payout.
As promised earlier this year by the government to “share the fruits of Singapore’s development with Singaporeans”, 2.8 million citizens will get a monetary amount which will depend on their Assessable Income in 2017. The lesser you earn, the more money you’ll be getting as part of the SG Bonus benefit.

The money even arrives automatically, so long as citizens have signed up for any other government payout scheme before. Singaporeans are encouraged to log in to the SG Bonus website from Oct 2 onwards to see if they’re eligible for the benefit, check how much they’ll be getting, or update their banking details.
In a major push to get people to start using cashless mobile payments, folks who register their NRIC with national funds transfer service PayNow will be getting their bonus wired in automatically on Nov 30. Those who don’t will only be getting their free money in their bank accounts on Dec 10, while those who prefer cheques will get ‘em by Dec 20.

For the rare portion of Singaporeans who aren’t down with free money, they can choose to donate their payout to a charity of their choice on the SG Bonus website.
