Singaporeans love to ‘selfie’ (take low-fi shots of themselves on their smartphones), but not so much when compared to the other cities of the world.
The state, which was recently named the most expensive city in the world based on the latest Economic Intelligence Unit survey, ranked 53 in terms of fondness for ‘selfies’ based on data collected by TIME.
The magazine had collected over 400,000 photos tagged ‘#selfie’ complete with geographic coordinates using the Instagram API over two five-day periods from January to March to produce the 459-city ranking.

Top of the list was Makati City, which is also the Philippines’ financial centre, followed by Manhattan, New York, Miami, Florida, California’s Anaheim and Santa Ana, and — coming in fifth — Petaling Jaya in Malaysia.
