Australian border authorities revealed today that they removed a Singaporean woman from the country after she was discovered to be engaging in sex work while overstaying her student visa.
The unnamed woman, who had been living in Brisbane, was deported last week following her Feb. 25 arrest and conviction for prostitution, which is not allowed under the nation’s COVID-19 measures.
“The woman had been found guilty on state charges of engaging in prostitution, knowingly participating in the provision of prostitution by another and had allegedly been facilitating illegal prostitution, which is also a breach of COVID-19 public health directions,” a statement by authorities said.
It did not indicate when the woman’s student visa expired or how long she had been in the country.
The Australian Border Force today released a video of what appeared to be the Singaporean woman being escorted to the airport.
A woman has been removed from Brisbane as an unlawful-non citizen. She was alleged to be involved in the illegal facilitation of sex work.
