During excavation work at a construction site along Upper Bukit Timah Road on Sept. 20, a 100-kilogram aerial bomb from World War II that remained unexploded was uncovered.
A press release by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) on Sept. 24 revealed that the war relic was deemed too dangerous to be moved, necessitating its disposal on-site.

Scheduled for Sept. 26 between 8am and 7pm, the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team will conduct a controlled on-site disposal of this wartime relic. Expect loud noises during this process, and it is advisable for the public to steer clear of the area.
In 2019, a similar unexploded bomb from World War II was found at a construction site located along Jiak Kim Street.
In light of the disposal operation, residents and other stakeholders in the vicinity will need to temporarily evacuate their buildings. Additionally, on Sept. 26, students and staff from Greenridge Secondary School will switch to Home-Based Learning.
Notably, the police have hosted a town hall meeting and issued written advisories to residents in the affected area. For those who missed the town hall, inquiries can be directed to the Bukit Panjang Neighbourhood Centre at 1800 892 000.
To ensure public safety, a 200-meter perimeter will be established around the wartime relic on the day of the controlled on-site disposal. Road closures will affect Bukit Panjang Flyover (between Woodlands Road and Petir Road) and Upper Bukit Timah Road (between Petir Road and Cashew Road) from 11am to 7pm on Sept. 26.
Access to this area will be limited to the police, SAF, emergency services, and authorized vehicles only. Strict parking regulations will be enforced, with indiscriminately parked or obstructing vehicles subject to towing.
Furthermore, drone activities are strictly prohibited in the disposal operation area. The police will provide updates on road reopenings via SPF’s Facebook and X platforms.
