Queensland police are currently on the hunt for a Singaporean man who fled the scene of a crime after allegedly attacking a woman with a hammer at a rented Airbnb home in Brisbane.

ABC reports that the attack left the 20-year-old victim — who’s also from Singapore, but lives in Queensland — with a fractured skull and stab wounds to her upper body. Despite the severity of the injuries, the woman was in stable condition when she was conveyed to Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The attack itself occured around 9.30pm on Monday in a home located in the suburbs of Norman Park —  the Singaporean man had booked it through Airbnb. The 30-year-old suspect arrived in Australia over the weekend, but the police believed that he had been in the area before.

The victim is said to have been in a relationship with her alleged attacker, and the altercation occured when the woman visited the house. He fled the scene barefoot in a white t-shirt and boxer shorts.

The man left all his possessions where the attack occurred, and the police believe that the fugitive has no access to funds whatsoever (because of his attire) and has no other acquaintances or relatives in Brisbane.

“We don’t believe he’s a risk to the general public but it may be the fact that he’s feeling in a state of desperation,” said an inspector to ABC.

Police dogs were unable to track down the suspect, but a security camera caught him running from the area.
