A Singaporean male driver was killed in a car crash in Perth, Australia on Monday (June 5), according to Australian media reports. His car, believed to be an SUV, collided with a four-wheel drive towing a caravan on Indian Ocean Drive near Ledge Point around 12.40pm, and he died at the scene.
He was not identified, but he was traveling with his wife and two children, who were taken to Joondalup Hospital with injuries that were reportedly not life-threatening.
The driver of the other vehicle was also brought to the hospital. A rescue helicopter picked up the victims after witnesses said that people were trapped in the vehicles.
According to The Straits Times, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed condolences to the family of the Singaporean who died in the accident. “The Singapore High Commission in Canberra has sent a consular officer to Perth to provide the necessary assistance to the family and their next-of-kin during this difficult time.”
The coastal road was closed off in both directions for about six hours after the crash.
