Singaporean finds cocktails called Chao Chee Bye and Kanina-bu served at a restaurant in Poland

Ask for a ‘chao chee bye’ at any local bar and you might get jumped or a dirty look at best by the bartender. Ask for it at this posh-looking joint in Poland, however, and you’ll receive a sparkling rum cocktail lovingly mixed and served, with the bartender telling you to enjoy your Chao Chee Bye.

YouTube personality and popular Singaporean beatbox champ Dharni had the glorious experience of requesting one for himself at Polish restaurant Reginabar, which also happens to offer a drink called Kanina-bu (a tequila cocktail with lime, agawa and ginger beer).

Some context first for the unfamiliar — they’re classy words from the lexicon of common Singaporean (technically, Hokkien) profanities.

Or, we can even fuse them together into one sophisticated phrase: Kan Ni Na Bu Chao Chee Bye

It’s not out of place — Reginabar serves both Chinese and Italian cuisine. Looks like a fairly new place too, and one that’ll surely be visited by Singaporeans wanting to get a kick out of ordering Kan Ni Na Bu or Chao Chee Bye shaken, not stirred.
