A group of diners who went to SMOObar and left without paying their S$275 bill recently made the news after their bad behavior got called out be the bar.

SMOObar publicly named the non-payers as part of their efforts to track them down and hold them accountable for their bill.

In the midst of that drink-and-dash saga, another eatery, Jyu Gae Bistro also reported that they had experienced the same thing as SMOObar and recognized two guys who had absconded from their venue without settling their bill as being part of the same non-paying party that SMOObar was after.

Like SMOObar, the Taiwanese restaurant is also seeking accountability and justice.

They wrote in a social media post, “We will not be letting this slide. We do not tolerate dine-and-dashers, and will be turning this matter over to the authorities. Intentionally skipping out on a bill is an act which must be held accountable.”

“Furthermore, we hope that by sharing this post with the public, we can prevent more businesses from falling victim to these scammers.”

Show me the money

Surprisingly, the bill from SMOObar was finally settled – but not without some drama.

With so many following the saga, the bar announced in a post that they had finally received the full payment after liaising with one of the diners, identified as Drew.

Unfortunately, after paying, Drew said he was unhappy with how SMOObar handled the situation and angry over how he was being portrayed as untrustworthy. To make matters even worse, he used a racial slur in one of his messages.

Police now involved

While SMOObar can now put the incident to rest, Jyu Gae Bistro is still awaiting payment for S$289.98.

On top of that, the police have confirmed that a report was made and investigations are ongoing.

All the best to both parties when it comes to dealing with this slippery gang of dine-and-dashers!
