Singaporean in critical condition after setting himself on fire in Johor Bahru

A 42-year-old Singaporean man is said to be in critical condition after he set his own body on fire with fuel he bought from a petrol station in Century Gardens, Johor Bahru.

He is currently being warded at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital, where several media reports claim he’s fighting for his life.

The man, who had bought a four-litre bottle of petrol around 9am on April 12, had doused himself with the liquid and used a cigarette lighter to torch himself, before falling into a drain.

The flames were later put out by an onlooker with a fire extinguisher.

Update: Mr. Stephen Lew Soo Kiang is reported to have died from his injuries on Sunday evening.
